Meet Our Experts:


Valerie Callahan


Valerie Callahan, executive director of Gabriel House of Care on the Mayo Clinic Florida campus, serves cancer and organ transplant patients and caregivers. Valerie, her staff, volunteers, and other patients and caregivers provide friendship, compassion, and support during difficult times by creating a Community of Healing incorporating integrative medicine, teaching coping skills through Mindfulness Stress Reduction classes, Tai Chi, Nutritional cooking classes, and Art Therapy.


Dr. Daniel Callahan




Dr. Daniel Callahan is a mindfulness-based psychotherapist in private practice. He began in public education in 1976 as an instructional assistant; taught and administered in various school districts from 185 to 32,000 students, and retired as superintendent of Monterey Peninsula Unified School District in 2005.  After a two-year sabbatical, solo sailing the North Atlantic and Caribbean, Dr. Daniel began a private therapy practice focused on helping one adult at a time become more fully healthy in mind, body, and spirit.


Deidre Dwyer




Deirdre Dwyer is a certified Tai Chi and Qigong instructor with 20 years of practice (China and the US) and 13 years of teaching experience (US only). Specializing in Sun & Yang styles with stationary and seated Qigong for anxiety/ stress relief, pain management, physical strength, and healthy aging. Deirdre is passionate about helping students cultivate mindfulness, vitality, and a lifelong practice. She weaves the Philosophy of Dao de Jing into her classes to bring depth and awareness of the flow of movements with the flow of life.
