Meet our Experts: 

Elan Slavin is the social worker at Family House, having created the position, and has been serving in that role for just over 6 years. She has spent most of her career working with medically fragile children and their families in both hospital settings and private organizations. Elan facilitates support groups as well as training sessions for her colleagues. Elan received her BSW from San Francisco State University in 1994 and earned her MSW from the University of Southern California in 1998.

Talia Giordano is an experienced licensed clinical social worker with 15 years’ experience in individual, family and group counseling, specializing in chronic illness, organ failure and transplant. For the last 13 years, Talia has been the Director of the Family Services and Caregiver Lifeline Program at Gift of Life Howie’s House, focusing primarily around addressing the psychosocial needs of the transplant patients and their caregivers who stay as well as developing virtual education and support programs for transplant patients, caregivers, and professionals locally, nationally, and internationally.
