Do you manage the tracking of your hospitality house’s occupancy data and/or need it to make important operational decisions? Do you struggle with obtaining accurate and timely information? Join us for a discussion regarding best practices and common pitfalls in this area of our operations. Topics will include:
- Data trends: How often do you share your data with your team and what do you share?
- Challenges of gathering data: Who is recording and updating it?
- Language: What occupancy terms do you use and what do they mean?
This panel discussion will be led by staff from SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals: Kelly Thompson, Executive Director; Claudette Whitted, Operations Manager; and Susan Anderson, Lead House Manager.

Kelly Thompson has over 15 years of experience as a nonprofit executive, including 1.5 years at SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals in NC, and almost 10 years as CEO of RMHC of Central Illinois. She and her team will be sharing some best practices and pitfalls to avoid when gathering occupancy data. Claudette Whitted first came to Family House in May of 2016, after working with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools for more than 16 years. Claudette earned an AAS in Early Childhood Education from Wake Technical Community College, and has lived in Chapel Hill for twenty years and counting.

Susan Anderson came to Family House after a long history of management at UNC-Chapel Hill. Susan managed large and small staffs at the bookstore, auxiliary services, and printing. During her more than 30 years in Chapel Hill, Susan volunteered at the Interfaith Council managing and serving meals and serving on the board, and she actively volunteers at St. Thomas More Catholic Community.
