Ask the Expert: Part II “Shared Language - What’s in a Name”

Wednesday, July 9, 2025 (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Building on the momentum of their first session, this discussion will focus on synthesizing the insights, ideas, and aspirations shared by HHN members. Toni Moore and Emily Muller will begin by reviewing key findings and themes that emerged from initial discussions, including a report-out on areas of consensus around the current state and future vision of healthcare housing.

The heart of this session will be a collaborative decision-making process. Participants will be presented with 2–4 thoughtfully developed terminology options that reflect our collective understanding and aspirations. Through guided discussion and interactive polling, our presenters will work toward selecting a unifying term (or two) that best represents our industry and its mission.

This session is designed to solidify our shared language, strengthen alignment across the network, and lay the foundation for consistent communication and advocacy moving forward. After the session, the HHN Board will vote on the collective terminology based on the results of this session.

Meet our Experts:

Toni Moore

In 2004, Toni founded Hospitality House of Tulsa.  Based on Biblical hospitality, this organization provides lodging, meals, prayer support, and transportation assistance for patients and caregivers through their Hospitality House and their new Lodgingly program, which provides deeply discounted hotel rooms near hospitals.

Toni’s personal experience with her own family’s medical crisis, combined with her 15-year career in healthcare administration, and her passion to study biblical hospitality, has equipped Toni to inherently know and understand the needs of families in medical crisis. Toni has served as a board member for HHN and, in 2018 led HHN in their first national impact study. Toni currently serves on the HHN Health Equity Committee.

Toni was recognized by the Journal Record as Oklahoma’s Most Admired CEO for 2021 and 50 Women Making a Difference in 2021. In September of this year, The Tulsa Regional Tourism Chamber named Toni Moore as Tulsa’s Hospitality Champion in 2024, recognizing her work within the nonprofit sector in delivering excellent hospitality for guests traveling to Tulsa.
